What is the National Bike Summit?
The National Bike Summit is the League of American Bicyclists’ premier annual gathering of industry leaders and advocates, featuring keynotes, breakout sessions, and a Capitol Hill Lobby Day to advance policies that make biking safer and more accessible.
Notre point de vue
As battery-powered transportation becomes a bigger part of campus life, ULSE is focused on helping schools navigate the safety challenges of a growing rechargeable society. Our partnership with the League of American Bicyclists reflects that commitment. Together, we’ve examined e‑bike and e‑scooter safety gaps on college campuses through a joint report, and we’re now releasing a model campus e-bike and personal mobility device policy developed in collaboration with LAB to support safer, more consistent practices nationwide.

à propos de cette session
For the past 2 years, LAB’s Bicycle Friendly University (BFU) program has partnered with UL Standards & Engagement to explore challenges and opportunities around e-bike and lithium-ion battery safety for BFU campuses.
At the 2025 National Bike Summit, we released a report based on insights from the BFU program, titled “Les vélos électriques sur les campus des collèges et des universités” Since then, the League and ULSE have partnered with a cohort of BFUs from around the country to develop a new model E-Bike & Personal Mobility Device Policy for college and university campuses, along with guidance and resources for adoption and implementation, to be released at the 2026 National Bike Summit.
This session will dive into the model policy and how other schools in the BFU program have engaged with campus decision-makers to adopt and implement similar policies on their campuses.
