Jeff Marootian is President and CEO of UL Standards & Engagement (ULSE), where he leads global efforts to advance safety and sustainability through science-based standards, convening, and advocacy.

Prior to ULSE, Jeff served as Acting Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy at the U.S. Department of Energy, overseeing a $3 billion clean energy innovation portfolio.

Earlier in his career, Jeff served as Assistant Secretary for Administration and Chief Sustainability Officer at the U.S. Department of Transportation before being appointed Director of the District Department of Transportation (DDOT). At DDOT, he managed a $4 billion capital program, championed technology-driven mobility initiatives, and oversaw major infrastructure projects, including the reconstruction of the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge.

Jeff served on the boards of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) and the Union Station Redevelopment Corporation (USRC). He holds degrees from The George Washington University, where he also taught as an adjunct faculty member at the Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Administration.
