Jeff Marootian is the president and chief executive officer of UL Standards Engagement. Jeff has an extensive background in public service and has led government organizations at the federal, state, and local levels.

Prior to joining ULSE, he was the acting assistant secretary of the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), managing an innovation portfolio focused on advancing clean energy technologies. He oversaw a team of more than 1,000 scientists and engineers including the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and DOE’s Office of Standards. He previously served as a Senior Advisor to Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm and as a Special Assistant to the President for Climate and Science Personnel in the White House.   

He is a graduate of George Washington University, where he has also served as an adjunct faculty member for the Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration.
