ULSE Signs MOU With The Mexican Association of Professionals in Risk Management and Civil Protection AC
International standards development organization (SDO) UL Standards & Engagement (ULSE) and the Mexican Association of Professionals in Risk Management and Civil Protection AC are pleased to announce the signing of a collaborative memorandum of understanding (MOU). The signing took place in Mexico City on February 20, 2023.
As a civil association, the Mexican Association of Professionals in Risk Management and Civil Protection AC works to develop services that contribute to the competitiveness of professionals in risk management, civil protection, and related disciplines.
While both organizations have previously collaborated on fire safety initiatives in Mexico, the document formalizes their working relationship and outlines how they will collaborate to increase knowledge of each other’s public safety activities moving forward. Under the terms of the MOU, both organizations agreed to promote reciprocal communication; avoid duplication of work efforts where possible; support harmonization efforts where there is interest; and advance public awareness of safety and sustainability. The organizations also agreed to utilize the resources of UL Standards & Engagement to help strengthen Mexico's national standards system.
“This MOU represents the formalization of our long relationship and the goodwill of both organizations,” said Sonya Bird, vice president of international standards at UL Standards & Engagement. “Our commitment to give visibility and create awareness regarding inclusion and accessibility is one of the main goals that we have as MOU partners. And we will seek to align civil protection needs and the UL Standards that can contribute to make a safer Mexico."
