Phil Piqueira Appointed Chair of ANSI Board of Directors

Phil Piqueira, vice president of global standards for Underwriters Laboratories, has been appointed chair of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Board.

Phil will begin a one-year term on January 1, 2021, succeeding GP Russ Chaney, CEO of the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO). 

In this role, Phil will oversee governance of the issues, properties and affairs of ANSI in pursuit of its mission to enhance global competitiveness of American businesses and quality of life in the U.S. through the promotion and facilitation of voluntary consensus standards and conformity assessment systems. 

Additionally, with ANSI serving as the official U.S. representative to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and, through the U.S. National Committee, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), Phil will participate in discussions to help influence the development of standards that improve safety, security and sustainability around the world.
