This facilitates both subject matter expertise within each program as well as building strong working relationships with technical committee members. Appliances, HVAC/R, Lighting, Tools, and Controls (AHL)
Program Manager, Milos Coric
Includes standards in categories primarily for corded electrical products including lighting, small and large home appliances, and power tools, as well as controls and switches. Other categories include heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration products and equipment. Other included products include personal flotation devices and furniture.

The BLST program focuses on multiple areas of fire safety including products and systems for fire protection, fire prevention, and firefighting — as well as security and other life safety equipment.

This portfolio includes standards for rechargeable energy storage devices and systems aimed at supporting energy demands and/or which replace technologies traditionally powered by fossil fuels, many of which help advance the safe advancement of clean energy. Specifically, this includes batteries, charging systems, and battery-powered products, as well as performance materials and aviation safety products.

The portfolio also covers furnaces, boilers, stoves and other types of heaters primarily using liquid or solid fuels as well as water treatment and safety and security for the legalized cannabis industry.

Sustainability

The initiation and rapid development of ULSE’s sustainability program has been driven by high demand for circularity – particularly the establishment of frameworks for programs and their evaluation to demonstrate impact and effectiveness. Other standards in the portfolio assess the sustainability of products for aspects including biodegradability, human health impact, and other environmental criteria.
