2020 Anti-Counterfeiting Virtual Research Symposium Interactive White Paper

Counterfeit products - that is, products made or sold under a brand name without authorization from the brand owner - pose a large and growing problem for consumers, producers and societies. Estimates by the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) indicate global counterfeit trade is about a half-trillion dollars (USD) and could grow to a trillion dollars in coming years. A growing body of research addresses the harmful effects of counterfeits and what may be done to offset them. Read the information presented at the inaugural Anti-Counterfeiting Virtual Research Symposium presented in November 2020.
